Full-time Web Developer at Start-up MotorGuru
November 2007 – July 2008
Motorguru was a start-up company providing video reviews of new cars. I was employed full-time at there to help launch and develop the site, where I worked with 2 remote workers. I created all the XHTML/CSS, most of the JavaScript, and half of the PHP in the front-end and back-end. Some features I created include:
- Tabs, form highlighting, and AJAX using the MooTools JavaScript Framework
- Integrating MySQL database information for each car/video into the video page using PHP, pulling from multiple tables and databases
- Back-end interface to add and edit new videos. Each video is linked to a car which has reviews, data, and related cars. AJAX with Scriptaculous was used to make the interface easier to use and understand for the other employees at the company (JS/PHP/HTML).
- User registration and ‘Remember Me’ feature (JS/PHP/HTML)
- Email confirmation, password recovery, and a tool for sending out weekly email newsletters using SwiftMailer (PHP/HTML)
- Basic user management admin section (PHP)
- Rotating templates on the front page that link to reviews of vehicle types (PHP/HTML/CSS/Photoshop)
